Md Yasser Abbasi (CRPF Commandant and Author from Hazaribag, Jharkhand).

His two books got publsihed in 2015 and 2018.

One is 'The Sinless Victim' and the other is 'Shoot to Win'.

Born and brought up in Hazaribag, Yasser Abbasi used to live in Suleiman Colony situated just behind Laxmi cinema hall. He did his schooling from Zakir Hussain school (now the school doesn’t exist) until class 4 and skipped class 5 to take admission directly in class in St.Xavier’s School (Hazaribag). Being new to Xavier’s culture and being late in taking admission, the mid-term examination came quickly and he scored 48 out 100 in English subject. His English teacher Father Shave praised him for getting 48 marks and being among top 20 among the pool of 50 students. During school days, Yasser got lots of praise for his essay writing and letter writing which motivated him to keep writing since his childhood. He passed his matriculation in 1993 from St.Xavier’s school and went to Delhi to complete his intermediate, but due to homesickness he came back to Hazaribag and wanted to take admission in St. Columba’s college, but his father suggested and forced him to leave Hazaribag and get admission elsewhere as the sessions in Hazaribag were running late in colleges during those days. In the meantime, the results of AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) came and he got selected for doing intermediate from AMU. He took Admission in science stream with Biology, but he was not interested in studying Biology, so he dropped the course in middle and switched to Mathematics.

His father wanted him to him crack IIT and he kept preparing for his engineering entrance very hard. During his intermediate years in 1994-95 in AMU, when there was no cell phone and emails, he used to write letters to his father. His letters were so touching and sound that his father used to say over phone “Beta tumne bahot acchi khat likhi, tumhare andar kafi kabliyat hai likhne ki” , that you have written beautiful letter and you can make wonders in writing. His letters and motivation from father kept him motivated to write further. After completing his intermediate, he took admission in English in AMU and started pursuing his aspiration for civil services. During his graduation days, his first story got published in AMU magazine in 1996 and he also became an editor for the magazine. This kept him going and knowing his literary skills. He started honing his skills by going to library and reading novels, English communication books and improved his language and command over literature. After completing his graduation, he pursued his Masters in Humans Rights from AMU and became a gold medalist. He also enrolled himself in Ph.d in Humans Rights and completed his thesis in 14 months, but was not allowed to submit as minimum time required to submit a thesis was 18 Months.

He kept himself involved with books and literary happenings throughout his educational life. In 2002, he gave exams for CRPF and joined CRPF. He traveled and worked in in almost every part of the country in the span of 16 years. Currently, he is CRPF commandant based in Assam. While doing his duty and serving nation, he wrote two beautiful books, ‘The Sinless Victim’, and ‘Shoot to Win’. He says that, his duty used to begin with sunrise and being in this challenging job of serving the nation, he rarely gets time. He furthers says, he used to write and read during midnights, after completing his duty. So, the literary skills which he used to possess kept him restless and a stage in his life cam when he was unable to sleep without reading or writing. He gathered enormous experience throughout his service and started to pen down his first book ‘The Sinless Victim’ in 2013. It took him 2 years to complete the book and the book got published in 2015. ‘The Sinless Victim’ talks about his experiences and encounter with the downtrodden people of the society and contains 8 different stories which dwell deep in the the lives of those people who are being victimized without any crime. In 2018, his second book got published, ‘Shoot to Win’, which talks about the professional skills of police personnel aspiring to win the battle. ‘Shoot to Win’ is the first book which talks about the improvement of shooting skills or can be taken as handbook for police personnel for any battle. The idea which Yasser Abbasi wants depict through the book is not ‘Shoot to Kill’, but Shoot to Win. Yasser Abbasi lives with his wife and two beautiful kids. He is a very humble and down to earth personality. In future, he is going to write more and more books.
