Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete ( selected for Indian women Hockey team and will go to Tokyo Olympics)

Nikki Pradhan from Khunti district and Salima Tete from a small village of Simdega district, are now part of the Indian women's hockey squad for the Tokyo Olympics which is scheduled for next month. 

This is Nikki Pradhan's second time in Olympics as she represented India during Rio Olympics in 2016 and by doing so she became the first female hockey player to do so from Jharkhand. When she represented Indian team in the 2016 Rio Olympics she was the first woman hockey player to represent this tribal heartland.

Salima, on the other hand, is the first female player from Simdega to reach Olympics after 40 years. In the past, only two male hockey players from Simdega, Michael Kindo and Sylvanus Dungdung took part in Olympics.

It has been really tough during this pandemic for these two players to practice and keep themselves fit to be selected team India, but they worked really hard to earn their spot and making the whole Jharkhand proud of them.

Jharkhand Hockey president Bholanath Singh is very hopeful that the two girls from Jharkhand will perform well and will whole of Jharkhand and the country proud.
